FAQs
All of Lincolnshire and some of the East Midlands (ask me!). I will also travel to France, as I have dual nationality, for a supplementary fee.
What area do you cover?

Does a ceremony with a celebrant replace the legal bit at a Registrar’s?
2
No. But you can usually get a “2+2” (couple plus two witnesses) deal for a small sum at an off-peak time in a Registry Office. You will need an appointment.
How is it different from a church service?
3
There are no hymns, prayers or bible readings. It’s non-religious, not anti-religious: all are welcome.
What do you do as a Humanist Celebrant?
4
I offer a ceremony that is unique to you. It can be held anywhere, including your own back garden, if you want! And it has no rules.
What does it include?
5
Your love story! In discussion with you I develop a text that tells your story as you would like it told. The entire ceremony is then scripted, including the vows you make to one another, your symbolic rituals, and the music and readings of your choice.
How are you different from other “celebrants”
6
Humanist UK’s training is widely acknowledged to be the most comprehensive. I am DBS checked and covered by public liability insurance; I am part of a country-wide network so a colleague can step in if needed; and as a charity we want to fair, non-religious treatment for all.
How much does it cost?
7
I charge £500, which includes initial interview, follow-up exchanges, agreed script, delivery of script, a presentation album and all travel in a 50 mile radius of Horncastle. A 50% deposit is payable on completion of the booking form and/or acceptance of contract, which secures the date; the remainder is due six weeks before the ceremony or on completion of the script, whichever is sooner.
