FAQs
What area do you cover?
1
All of Lincolnshire and some of the East Midlands (ask me). And France (I have dual nationality), where extra charges apply, naturally.
Does a Humanist Ceremony replace the legal bit at a Registrar’s?
2
No. But you can usually obtain a “2+2” (couple plus two witnesses) deal for a small sum at an off-peak time in a Registry Office. You don’t have to choose your nearest one, you can go anywhere, provided you make the appointment.
How is it different from a church ceremony?
3
There are no hymns, prayers or bible-readings. It’s non-religious, not anti-religious. All are welcome.
A ceremony that is unique to you. It can be held anywhere, including your back garden, if you want! There are no rules.
What, then, do you do as a Humanist Celebrant?

5 What does it include?
Your love story as you would like it told! A script, with your vows, symbolic rituals, music and readings of your choice, or not. All done to reflect your wishes perfectly.
Humanists UK’s training is widely acknowledged to be the most comprehensive; I am DBS checked and covered by public liability insurance; I am part of an excellent country- wide network which means a colleague can step in, if needed; and as a charity and we are motivated by the desire to see fair and non-religious treatment for all.
6 How are you different from other “celebrants”?
I charge £500, which includes initial interview, follow-up exchanges, agreed script, delivery of script, and a presentation album. A 50% deposit is payable on completion of the booking from and/or acceptance of the contract, which secures the date; the remainder is due six weeks before the ceremony or on completion of the script, whichever is sooner.
